The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is a statutory authority established under the provisions of the Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefits and Services) Act, 2016 (“Aadhaar Act 2016”) on 12 July 2016 by the Government of India, under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). The Aadhaar Act 2016 has been amended by the Aadhaar and Other Laws (Amendment) Act, 2019 (14 of 2019) w.e.f. 25.07.2019. UIDAI was created to issue Unique Identification numbers (UID), named “Aadhaar”, to all residents of India. The UID had to be (a) robust enough to eliminate duplicate and fake identities, and (b) verifiable and authenticable in an easy, cost-effective way. As on 31st October 2021, the Authority has issued 131.68 crore Aadhaar numbers to the residents of India.

Aadhar Card Update/Correction Details
- Any correction in the Aadhar card cannot be done by the citizen himself, for this, the citizen has to go to the service center of the Aadhar card or CSC center/bank/post office / where the camp is located and do it. Also, the fee which is prescribed by UIDAI will have to be paid.

UIDAI E-Aadhar Card Download
- To download the Aadhar card, the mobile number of the citizen must be linked with his Aadhar card. When you download the Aadhar card, after entering the Aadhar card number, an OTP-linked mobile number will come, only after entering the card will be downloaded.
- Those whose mobile number is not linked with an Aadhar card or whose mobile is not present can download their Aadhar card by biometric by Seva Kendra center or CSC center.

- When you download the Aadhar card, it is protected with a password, which is the default password, it is the first 04 letters of the name of the candidate and the year of birth, some examples are given below.
